oh, the belly button! October 10, 2008

We were on a walk today and earlier I had read a book to Sierra and Jaysen called “Look How Baby Grows”.  It had explained all about how babies are born and how the umbilical cord is cut and later falls off leaving each baby a belly button.

Jaysen mentioned his “button”,as he calls it, on the walk.  I took the opportunity to ask Sierra, “How did Jaysen get his belly button?”

Sierra said, “I don’t know.” pause.  “Oh, yes I do!  It’s from his electric cord.”

I laughed at her response and she giggled and said, “that’s how I say it.”

I reminded her it is called the umbilical cord.

So we were driving home from church yesterday, and we were right behind this young guy on a sport bike.  I asked, “Sierra, could you see Mommy on a motorcyle like that?”

She said, in a giddy voice, “Yeah!”

I said, “Really, you could see me on a motorcycle?!”

She said, “Yeah, and you could hook a stroller to the back and pull me and Jaysen. (giggle)”

Wal Mart September 12, 2008

We have just moved into a new house and until now have never had a master bathroom.  Sierra was in my bathroom this morning.  She used my potty and was washing her hands in the sink.  She said, “this is a cool bathroom, Mom.  Isn’t it cool?  I’ve never seen two sinks like at Wal Mart.”

Of all places, she compared my bathroom to WalMart’s!

numbness August 31, 2008

Sierra has been to the dentist for fillings, more than once, and each time the Dentist warns her not to bite her cheek when her mouth is numb because it will hurt when it wakes up.

Sierra woke up from her nap today and said, “feel the ends of my fingers.”

She had this sleepy, smiley look on her face.

I said, “are they numb? Are your fingers asleep?”

She said, “yeah…not anymore.  When I was sleeping, my fingers were numb.” (giggling)

She thought a little bit, then said, “it’s good that I didn’t bite my fingers when I was sleeping.  That would’ve really hurt when I woke up!” (chuckle)

Sierra was eating lunch today.  She was looking out our window in the kitchen.

She said, “you know why I’m looking far away?”

I answered, “no, why?”

She answered, “it’s because I miss Trevor.”

I thought it was so sweet and kinda funny that she gets the whole staring off and thinking thing!

I was watching the Olympics with Sierra on Saturday.  The following conversation took place.

“Are there kids in this?”-Sierra

“I think you have to be fifteen or sixteen to compete.”-Mommy

“Are you fifteen?”-Sierra

“No, I’m 25.”-Mommy

“So, you can’t be on there?”-Sierra

“I’m over 15, so if I was good at something, I could be in the Olympics”-Mommy

Long Pause.

“Mommy, you’re really good at shopping.”-Sierra

“Mommy…I can spell Air.”-Sierra

“Okay”.-Mommy

“A. C…..is that right?”

I, of course, laughed and explained the A. C. stands for “Air Conditioning”. Air is spelled A-I-R.
